We were fortunate to connect with Jerrod Blandino, who, with his co-founder Jeremy Johnson, founded the extraordinary Too Faced Cosmetics in 1998, and sold the brand to The Estée Lauder Companies in 2016 for $1.45 billion. The partners completely departed Too Faced in July 2022, and with “beauty blood” still in their veins, they launched their new makeup brand, Polite Society, in 2023. Blandino serves as Co-Founder & Chief Creative Officer.
Blandino shares the brand’s mission to redefine clean beauty, his favorite Polite Society packaging designs, why their ‘TikTok-famous’ “egg” packaging foundation went viral—and what will dictate the future of color cosmetics packaging. At press time, I’m recently back from the Miami edition of Cosmoprof NA (see review on p. 136 of this issue)—and about to head to Luxe Pack Los Angeles and MakeUp LosAngeles. Though my heart is heavy for all those affected and all that has been lost in the tragic fires in one of my favorite areas of the world, I am also eager to see what international packaging suppliers bring to the show to help keep the industry thriving.
