Perfumehead’s 1272 is a new, innovative fragrance, inspired by the Wexler House in Palm Springs. Daniel Patrick Giles, Perfumehead’s founder, restored the landmark home, preserving its modern design. The transparent citrus-floral scent ends with a wood finish. It introduces a new fragrance category, “coltrait,” which is a cologne-extrait hybrid, according to the brand.

As a “coltrait,” the juice contains the highest concentration of perfume oil, which gives it depth and longevity—while also capturing a the freshness of a cologne. “The ease of an eau de cologne. The longevity of an extrait,” reads 1272’s description.

“Central to our ethos is the production of extrait de parfum, the most concentrated of all perfume types,” states Giles on Perfumehead’s website. “Each parfum is handcrafted from the world’s finest essential oils, natural extracts and safe synthetics; a pure expression of luxury – rich, concentrated and voiced by the cultural references it bottles.”

More About Perfumehead’s 1272 Inspiration

The Wexler House inspired Perfumehead’s 1272, in both in composition and aesthetics. The fragrance’s notes and packaging reflect the residence that architect Donald Wexler designed for his family. For the past two decades, Giles has worked on preserving and restoring the architect’s home and landmark property.

Wexler is known as a “defining voice of desert modernism,” sources say. The fragrance bottle, with its striking round cap, has a luxe look that conveys a modern minimalist aesthetic.

1272 mimics the feel of the light and natural materials in the home, a press release states, noting its influences: “The orange flower in the air, the wood of the beams, the Japanese pine trees in the driveway, green hedges, and even the verbena of the street name.”

Perfumehead 1272’s exclusive retail partner is Nordstrom.
