Hourglass Cosmetics has opened its doors to its new global flagship store today, in New York City’s Soho neighborhood, at 14 Prince Street. Hourglass Cosmetics is owned by Unilever.

Hourglass Cosmetics Founder and President, Carisa Janes, took a hands-on role in the interior design of the store, translating the luxury beauty brand’s aesthetic into the design decisions—from the warm color palette to the use of materials like marble and gold accents. Janes enlisted TMR Design and Ryan Crozier of Crozier Studios as partners in bringing that vision to life.

Inspired by luxury apartments, the store’s design elements include bespoke furnishings and a sculptural, marble beauty bar created using natural stones and bespoke metals inspired by New York City.  A lounge area features a custom café-style velvet banquette.

Artist stations along the window allow for better color-matching with natural light. The store also has color-correcting overhead fixtures and mirror lighting to provide an optimal environment for makeup applications.

Hourglass will host an “Artist in Residence” series at the store, with in-store masterclasses, appointments, panel discussions, art installations, trunk shows, and exclusive product drops.

“Artist in Residence” will begin in April with celebrity make-up artist Emily Cheng.
