Shiseido Americas announced workforce layoffs due to a decline in its business performance last year.

In an internal memo, Shiseido Americas Interim CEO Alberto Noé told the staff that the company will issue “wide-ranging and significant” layoffs across its U.S. operations.

Shiseido has not disclosed how many roles will be eliminated. However, the company said, “These layoffs will impact many employees across multiple businesses, functions, and locations.”

An anonymous beauty watchdog, Estée Laundry, first leaked the news, which was later confirmed by the company.

The U.S. division oversees Drunk Elephant, Nars, and creates fragrances for Tory Burch and Narciso Rodriguez.

This is not the first layoff announcement this year as CotyEstee Lauder CompaniesChanel, and more have also issued similar cuts.
