The first-ever BeautyID Awards, created by Cosmoprof North America in association with Beauty Packaging Magazine, were presented during the Cosmoprof North America 2017 show on July 10th in Las Vegas. The Grand Award Winner is The Estee Lauder Companies’ Clinique Fresh Pressed Daily Booster with Pure Vitamin C 10%. This product is also a Package Innovation winner – read more about it below, and in this feature article on airless packaging. The awards program was created to recognize creativity in packaging design, material and product formulation in the ever-growing beauty segment. The Awards include all cosmetic product categories across professional, prestige and mass market segments. The winners were selected by a panel of judges. Users can easily “Touch On, Buff, and Blend” the liquid foundation with one hand, at home or on the go. It has a streamlined turning mechanism that allows for better control over the amount of product and coverage. The sponge head applicator is removable, for washing. PACKAGE INNOVATION: Fragrance, Prestige Petalwell for the PetalWell Diffuser Combining innovative technology with a contemporary design, the PetalWell diffuser releases the therapeutic benefits of pure essential oils into any space. To use, charge with a USB cord, pour a few drops of a pure essential oil into the well, and push the button to start. A charge will last 3 hours for use on the go. PACKAGE INNOVATION: Hair, Prestige Virtue Hair Care Virtue hair care products have a unique look with a customized cap. The brand worked with its supplier to build a custom bi-injection molding tool to mold rubber and PE for its tubes. The tube heads are also customized to allow the same cap to be used on both the shampoo and conditioner bottles, which minimized the amount of tooling needed. PACKAGE INNOVATION: Nail, Professional/Prestige O’Nine Beauty for Nail Easy Nail Easy water-based nail polish is a non-toxic formulation made with water, resin and mineral color powder. It easily peels off, without the need for nail polish remover. PACKAGE INNOVATION: Personal Care, Mass Sphynx for the Sphynx Portable Razor The Sphynx Portable Razor is a colorful, compact solution to shaving on-the-go. The razors are packaged as a set, and include a refillable water spray bottle, a moisturizing pre-shave bar, and two razor blades. The pre-shave bar contains shea Butter, coconut oil and cocoa butter, and doubles as a moisturizer that cna be rubbed into the skin after shaving. Extra blades and pre-shave bars are sold in Sphynx Refill Packs. PACKAGE INNOVATION: Personal Care, Prestige PreHeels for PreHeels Blister Prevention Spray PreHeels is an aerosolized spray for your feet that dries to form a clear, durable barrier that blocks friction from shoes. PACKAGE INNOVATION: Skin, Mass USA Cosmetics for G9 Skin White in Whipping Skin This water based cream — in a fun package that looks like a milk carton — contains 9 soothing ingredients, including milk extract. The soft long-lasting formula feels like whipped cream when applied, and will make your skin look smooth and photo-shopped. PACKAGE INNOVATION: Skin, Prestige / and Grand Award Winner The Estee Lauder Companies for Clinique Fresh Pressed Daily Booster with Pure Vitamin C 10% Pure Vitamin C naturally degrades when exposed to oxygen, so it’s most powerful when fresh. This stay-fresh packaging has been designed to isolate the pure Vitamin C until activation, maintaining its freshness and full potency. Once activated, with the press of the button, the Vitamin C is blended into the soothing emulsion. It contains anti-aging and revitalizing ingredients to combat age spots and wrinkles. PACKAGE INNOVATION: Sustainability Johnson Printing and Packaging Corp. for the Aveda/Tulasara Series AVEDA’s Tulasara folding cartons are made using custom JPP100 paperboard. Researched, developed and tested via a partnership between Johnson Printing & Packaging, AVEDA and Neenah Packaging, JPP100 is a ground-breaking, innovative paperboard, and the first of its kind. This unique folding carton board is comprised of 100% post-consumer recycled content, is FSC certified, has a clean, white structure throughout, and provides a lustrous, bright white printing surface. The electrical energy used to produce the Tulasara cartons was provided through a Wind Source program. Agri-based inks and an aqueous, satin-finish coating were used during print production.
